Kobayashi Isshindo was established in 1867.Founder Tomijiro Kobayashi was a master kabuto (Japanese armor) maker who with changing times became a master kendo equipment maker toward the end of Edo era.Kobayashi Isshindo has continued to contribute to the post-war Kendo renaissance for more than 60 years and especially the third-generation Master Shoji Kobayashi imparted our heritage and knowledge of kendo equipment craftsmanship both domestically and abroad. Now the fourth generation shop owner,Reiko Inagaki,nee Kobayashi,is here to support your needs.
We offer and fit excellent kendo protective gear that will feel life a part of you. You will find the prices for our products reasonable – we do after-the-sale service in shop,and our long history of service and experience is here to support your needs at reasonable price.
Our store is in Arakawa-ku Machiya,only a 35-minute train ride from the Nippon Budokan. Local or visiting from abroad,just starting kendo or are looking for new kendo gear,come by our store and let our staff help you. Mail-order service is also available.

Our shop is a Tax-free shop. Please bring your passport when you visit us. When your purchase becomes 5,000yen or more,10% of the Japanese consumption tax will be exempted. Transportation to get Machiya Station:
-From Narita Airport by Keisei Line
Change trains at Nippori Station from a Skyliner Express to a local train. Machiya Station is the second station from Nippori Station.
-From Tokyo Budokan by Chiyoda Subway Line
Take a train bound for the central Tokyo area at Ayase Station of the Chiyoda line.
Machiya Station is the second station from Ayase Station.
Access from Machiya Station (Chiyoda Line, Keisei Line):
-After leaving Machiya Station of the Chiyoda Line from Exit 1, turn to the right at police station and turn to the right at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) Machiya Branch Office. A One-minute walk will take you to our shop.
-After leaving Machiya Station of the Keisei Line, cross the railroad crossing of Toden Arakawa Line in the vicinity of Sunpop Machiya Building, and turn to the right at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) Machiya Branch Office. A Three-minute walk will take you to our shop.
